![]() 1. What you need to use to create a Chalk Board! When making a chalkboard it is essential to use an ultra-Matte paint that has a flat, chalky feel so that you can achieve that traditional dusty, chalk look successfully. The ultra-Matte chalk finish is the first key step. The chalky finish allows the chalk to easily sit on the board and makes erasing off actually happen. Dixie Belle Paint Company makes a Chalk Mineral Paint that not only provides you with 64 different chalky, flat color options but the key foundation to creating a beautiful chalkboard. 2. Some Helpful tips when using chalkboard paint! Besides having a firm foundation of using an ultra- matte finish on the base, there are a few tips we suggest when creating a chalkboard finish. 1) If creating your chalkboard on a slick surface we recommend you use some sand paper to rough it up or a product like Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paints Slick Stick. You want to make sure the paint can set in to the surface. 2)After you have archived your chalkboard look you will want to make sure you "season" the board by rubbing it all over with traditional chalk. This step gives the board a top coat and extra layer of "chalkiness". Think of this step as similar to cooking.... the longer the chalk sits and cures the better and may need to be repeated over time. 3) After your board has been sealed you can begin using your chalkboard with traditional chalks! 3. Heads Up!!! A couple things to avoid during the project is Do not seal the board with any top coat or wax. If you are wanting the board to be erasable you will want to make sure you are using traditional chalk sticks or chalk pens.... not paint pins! Dixie Belle Paint Company products can be used to make endless chalkboard projects! It is safe and non- toxic for all to use which makes it great for children to join in and paint their outdoor toys, scooters, doll houses etc.! Adults love using it to make reminder boards, holiday gifts, painted furniture and more! Grab All of Your Dixie Belle Paint Products Here NOW
