If you are anything like my family we have run out of our store bought chalk and due to the Covid19 Pandemic we will not be going into the stores to find more! Yes, we could order online but..... I need an activity to entertain them now! So, we are going to combine a little art, a little science and a lot of fun to make our very own sidewalk chalk! Don't Panic....it really is not that difficult to do and my kids aged toddler and up love it! You probably have most of the supplies around your home! Let's Check.....
2-3 Tablespoons of Washable Tempera Paint
1/2 Cup Water
3/4 Cup Plaster of Paris
Mold (Toilet paper role, soap box, toy, container etc.)
Zip Lock Bag (optional)
Step 1: Put 2-3 Tablespoons of Washable Paint in a Bowl for mixing
Step 2: Add 1/2 Cup of Water
Step 3: Add 3/4 a cup of Plaster of Paris
Mix all together well!
Step 4: To prepare your mold make sure to line with parchment or wax Paper so that the chalk wont dry to the cardboard etc.!
Step 5: Pour or scoop your chalk into the molds!
Step 6: Let Dry 12-15 Hours... It is important for it dry completely or it will crumble
Step 7: Enjoy Creating Your Masterpiece!
We hope this helps you create a little happy in your day!
